HARTS Program Eligibility

You are eligible for the HARTS Program if you meet all of the following requirements:

  • Complete the ±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï steps to apply and enroll in credit classes (including a ±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Orientation)
  • Experiencing housing insecurity at time of application 
  • Enroll in a minimum of 6 units of credit classes and motivated to achieve your academic goals 
  • Willing to complete an online FAFSA or California Dream Act application
  • Submit a current copy of a Student Educational Plan created by a ±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Academic Counselor
  • Complete the HARTS enrollment process listed below

Apply and Enroll in ±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Credit Classes
Complete new student steps, register for classes and check your ±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï email.
Complete the HARTS application online

If you are housing insecure, you will be sent a "Next Steps" email. If you don't meet criteria, you will be sent community resources and information about the Sparkpoint ±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Basic Needs Center.

Attend a HARTS Group Orientation
In the "Next Steps" email you will be able to choose an orientation time/date/location.
Submit an Educational Plan
To focus on your educational goals utilize ±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Academic Counseling to discuss why you are in college.
HARTS students are required to enroll in credit classes (6 units) listed on their Comprehensive Educational Plan.
Attend an individual HARTS intake meeting
During the meeting HARTS staff will connect you with resources relevant to your current living situation.
Access resources discussed during the HARTS intake meeting
To remain in the program, HARTS participants should be working towards stable housing.

Requirements to Maintain Eligibility

To remain eligible in the Homeless At-Risk Program the following must be met:

  • Attend an Academic Counseling appointment once per semester
  • Access community resources so you can strive towards housing stability
  • Maintain at least 6 units of credit classes that are listed on current Educational Plan
  • Participate in program services by reviewing HARTS Canvas resource course
  • Earn a 2.0 GPA and be receptive to staff monitoring of academic performance
  • Abide by all ±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï student standards for appropriate conduct and community behavior
