Common Course Numbering
The Fall 2025 schedule includes six courses that have new course numbers. This renumbering is part of California Community College’s Common Course Numbering, an effort to standardize course identifiers across the 116 California Community Colleges. Here is a list of the impacted courses:

Cal-GETC Transfer Pathway
Starting in Fall 2025, all California Community Colleges are introducing a single lower-division general education transfer pathway for incoming first-time students, called the California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC). Read more about Cal-GETC.
In-Person, Online, and Hybrid Classes
City College offers in-person, online, and hybrid in-person/online classes. The Course Type icon in the schedule shows the type of instruction a class will use.
In-Person Classes
In-Person Classes have regular class meetings at the listed Campus/Center (e.g., Ocean, John Adams). Specific days, times, dates, and locations are available in the schedule. Many classes also have additional section notes - use the Details toggle to view them.
Online Classes
Online classes are taught in Canvas with no required in-person meetings. Most online classes are asynchronous with weekly deadlines. Asynchronous instruction allows you to view and participate in coursework at any time you choose during the week.
Some online classes have required synchronous online meetings via Zoom - check the schedule for days, times, and dates.
Hybrid Classes
Hybrid classes are taught in Canvas with some required in-person meetings. The Campus/Center for the in-person meetings, and specifics days, times, dates, and locations will be noted in the schedule.
In addition to in-person meetings, hybrid classes also have asynchronous instruction with weekly deadlines. Asynchronous instruction allows you to view and participate in coursework at any time you choose during the week.

Required Technology and Internet Use
±¬ÁϳԹÏ’s official learning management system is Canvas. Students enrolled in Online or Hybrid classes will be required to use Canvas. 
±¬ÁϳԹÏ’s official live online meeting platform is Zoom. Students enrolled in Hybrid or Online classes might have required live online meetings via Zoom.
Both Canvas and Zoom require an internet enabled device, and some classes might require a webcam for Zoom.
Time Conflicts
As you plan your schedule, please do everything you can to give yourself a schedule without time conflicts. Do not expect the instructor to accommodate time conflicts.
